A bit about me
Welcome to my website. I am Dr. Sagayaraj Kanagaraj, an Assistant Professor in the School of Psychological Sciences at CHRIST University, India, and a researcher working at the intersection of psychology, neurodiversity, education, psychometrics, technology, and socially relevant psychological research.
I completed my PhD in Counselling Psychology at the Chettinad Academy of Research and Education, Chennai, India, supported by the Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR) Senior Research Fellowship. I was also honoured to receive the European Commission – Horizon Europe Marie Skłodowska-Curie Actions (MSCA) Seal of Excellence (2025) for my research proposal.
My research interests include neurodiversity and neurodevelopmental conditions, intervention research, lived experiences, special and inclusive education, psychometrics, scale development and validation, behavioural and experimental psychology, mixed-methods research, multicultural research.
A significant part of my work focuses on the development and evaluation of psychological and educational assessment tools, evidence-based interventions, and research methodologies that can better capture the experiences and needs of diverse populations. I also have expertise in clinical and behavioural research, eye-tracking methodologies, experimental research designs, and translational research, with an emphasis on producing findings that can inform practice, policy, and educational systems.
I serve as an Associate Editor of Cogent Education and an Editorial Board Member of BMC Psychology and PLOS ONE, Youth Work: Theory and Practice. Through interdisciplinary and international collaboration, my work aims to advance inclusive, evidence-based, and socially responsive psychological science.
My research and academic collaborations extend across India and international research communities, including collaborations and academic connections in the United States, United Kingdom, Europe, and New Zealand. I value interdisciplinary and multicultural approaches to research and believe that meaningful psychological science emerges when different perspectives, methodologies, and disciplines come together.
